Against the Current

Despite starting out as a typical teenage, high school band with a love of pop and rock music, Against the Current started receiving millions of views on YouTube and within a few years found themselves touring the world supporting Good Charlotte and Fall Out Boy. Originally formed in 2011, school friends Daniel Gow and William Ferri grew up playing together in Poughkeepsie, New York and started hanging out and performing with singer Chrissy Costanza. They soon began posting videos online, but it was when they teamed up with singer-songwriter and social media favourite Alex Goot to perform a version of Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen's ballad 'Good Time' that things really took off. As the online views rapidly began to rise and they started establishing a fanbase all over the world, Costanza also became known for her make-up tutorial videos and soon quit university to release first EP 'Infinity' in 2014. They were still in their teens when they signed to the Warner label Fueled By Ramen and headed out on tours to Australia and Asia, but their songwriting evolved and matured on second EP 'Gravity' and Costanza's belting voice continued to soar above their pop-rock anthems. At their heaviest they earned comparisons to the likes of Paramore and Avril Lavigne and at their more earnest and euphoric moments they took nods from Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry. They graduated to headlining arenas and playing on The Warped tour before they finally released debut album 'In Our Bones' in 2016. Though they continued to record covers with Goot of tracks by Halsey and Justin Bieber and regularly made new videos for their millions of YouTube subscribers, they changed direction slightly and embraced electro-pop synths on single 'Voices', before returning with second album 'Past Lives' in 2018.
