Alex Cuba

Alexis Puentes, who goes by the name Alex Cuba, is a jazz singer who began playing the guitar as a child taught by his musician father Valentin Puentes. He and his twin brother Adonis moved to Canada in 1999 and they performed as the Puentes Brothers with a 2001 album titled 'Morumba Cubana'. His debut solo album 'Humo de Tabaco' came out in 2004 followed by 'Agua del Pozo' (2007). He won a Latin Grammy Award as Best New Artist in 2010 for his album 'Alex Cuba', which was nominated as Best Male Pop Vocal Album and also earned a Grammy Award nomination as Best Latin Pop Album. 'Static in the System' came out in 2012 and in 2012 his track 'Toma Mi Vida' won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Tropical Song. 'Erest Tú' won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video in 2013. His album 'Healer' won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Singer-Songwriter Album in 2015 and was nominated as Best Latin Pop Album in the Grammy Awards. He released 'Lo Único Constante' in 2017 and 'Sublime' in 2019. His 2020 schedule was to include appearances at venues across Canada including Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton and London.
