Anna Calvi

Hailing from South West London, Anna Calvi cuts a strikingly glamorous figure while playing her dark, brooding, leftfield pop. She grew up in a musical household to Italian parents, learning violin and guitar and listening to everyone from Jimi Hendrix to Édith Piaf and Ravi Shankar. Signed to Domino Records in 2009 on the recommendation of The Coral guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones, Brian Eno became her mentor and she was named on the BBC Sound of 2011 shortlist. Support slots with Arctic Monkeys, Grinderman and PJ Harvey followed, before her debut album 'Anna Calvi' (2011) was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and widely acclaimed as one of the records of the year. An incredibly original artist, Calvi draws on flamenco music, David Lynch films, new wave pop, blues and a whole host of musical styles to create atmospheric odes that unsettle and inspire in equal measure. Her second album release, 'One Breath', came out in 2013, with her third, 'Hunter', releasing in 2018.
