Founded in 1997, Black Biscuits is a four-member Japanese pop unit, formed by comedians Nana Mikyoya and Amano “Amazon” Hiroyuki as well as Chinese singers Vivian Hsu and Keddy Ting. Initially a product of Japanese variety television show Ucchan Nanchan no Urinari, the group formed as a rival band to popular Japanese music group Pocket Biscuits, setting a challenge to see who could attain the greatest chart success, however the group became successful in their own right, releasing four top-five singles in two years with their debut single “Stamina” (1997) going to the top of the charts, followed by “Timing” (1998) which achieved over 1.5 million record sales. Their follow up singles “Relax” (1998) and “Bye-Bye” (1999) both charted in the top five with their debut album LIFE appearing in 1999, reaching number 6 on the Oricon album charts, disbanding shortly after, before reuniting in December, 2022 at the Nippon Television Music Festival.
