Stefanie Mannaerts (drums, vocals), Stijn Vanhoegaerden (guitar) and Peter Mulders (bass) are the musicians behind Brutus, a Belgian post-hardcore outfit from Leuven whose three members met while playing in various other groups; Stefanie Mannaerts and Peter Mulders in a Refused tribute band, Refused Party Program, and Stijn Vanhoegaerden and Stefanie Mannaerts in a band called Starfucker. First assembling in 2013, the group announced their arrival two years later via a split album with the Guru Guru, titled Brutu Guru, before releasing their first solo single "All Along" in 2016. The following year, they travelled to Vancouver to record their debut album Burst, which was released by Hassle Records (EU) and Sargent House (US and worldwide). Follow-up LP Nest came in 2019 and a live album, Live in Ghent, in 2020. Unison Life, their third studio album, was written and recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown and released in October 2022.
