Bullet For My Valentine

Launched in 1998 under the name "Jeff Killed John," the Welsh metalcore band Bullet for My Valentine was formed by Matthew Tuck, Nick Crandle, Michael "Moose" Thomas, and Michael "Padge" Paget while all four musicians were college students in Bridgend, Wales. Initially influenced by nu metal acts like Limp Bizkit and Korn, Jeff Killed John released a pair of independent EPs before the band changed both its name and its approach. Now armed with a new moniker and a more melodic sound, Bullet for My Valentine found mainstream success in 2005, when the singles like "All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)," "Suffocating Under Words of Sorrow (What Can I Do)," and "Tears Don't Fall" all peaked at Number 2 on the UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart. The band's debut album, Poison, was released later that year, going gold in both the US and the UK. After performing high-profile shows with acts like Metallica and Guns N' Roses, the band returned with Scream Aim Fire in 2008. Noted for its heartfelt songwriting as much as its head-banging adrenaline, the album cracked the Top 5 on the UK, US and Australian charts, with worldwide sales quickly passing one million copies. Additionally, the title track became the band's first Number 1 on the British rock charts. Having been named "Best British Band" for three consecutive years at the Kerrang! Awards, the band returned in 2010 with Fever, which followed its two predecessors by going gold in the UK. 2013's Temper Temper, 2015's Venom, and 2018's Gravity all maintained Bullet for My Valentine's status as one of Europe's most successful rock acts, even as the band weathered a string of lineup changes. Stung by the public's lackluster reception for Gravity, the band returned to a hard-hitting sound with 2021's self-titled Bullet for My Valentine, which topped the UK Rock & Metal Albums chart while peaking at Number 6 on Billboard's Top Hard Rock Albums.
