Chad Kroeger

The Canadian singer and guitarist Chad Kroeger was born in Hanna, Alberta in 1975 into a family descended from German Mennonites. He began his career in music playing in a band called Village Idiot which Kroeger formed with his brother Mike, his cousin Brandon and Mike Peake. Village Idiot started out life as a grunge covers band but in the mid-1990s morphed into what music fans now know as Nickelback. The group went on to become one of Canada's most successful musical exports, selling over 50 million albums worldwide and are best known for their 2005 album 'All the Right Reasons' which spawned the hit 'Rockstar' along with seven more top ten singles. Although Kroeger still records and performs with Nickelback he has also been involved with a number of collaborations, formed his own record label and been a member of the band The Suits XL which he formed in 2001. As a solo artist, Kroeger's best known work is the song 'Hero' which he wrote for the 2002 Spider-Man film.
