Crystal Waters

It’s hard to imagine the 1990s without Crystal Waters' enduring house megahit, "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)"; one of the era’s most iconic dance-pop anthems with its “la da dee, la dee da” earworm of a chorus. Released in 1991 as the lead single from Waters’ debut album Surprise, the track shot to Number 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs Chart in the US, reached the Top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and Number 2 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart. It marked the start of a glittering career for the New Jersey-born singer-songwriter who is often celebrated as one of dance music’s most successful figures, with twelve Number 1 Billboard Dance Chart hits under her belt. Waters’ second album, 1994’s Storyteller, was certified gold and spawned the hit single, "100% Pure Love", which topped the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. A third self-titled album followed in 1997 and in the years that followed, Waters released a steady stream of well-received singles, including 2017’s "Testify" with Hifi Sean and 2020’s "Party People" with DJ Spen and DJ Micfreak. Waters has six ASCAP Songwriter Awards and four Billboard Music Awards to her name.
