Denki Groove

Denki Groove is a Japanese electronic music band formed in Tokyo in 1989 by vocalists and DJs Pierre Taki and Takkyü Ishino with guitarist Wakaoji Mimio and DJ Kouji Takahashi, who both left in 1990. DJ Yoshinori Sunahara was with them from 1991 to 1999. They had early hits in their homeland and spent time away from recording at various times but released more than 20 albums on Sony Music starting with '662 BPM' in 1990. A 2012 single, 'Shameful', reached number 79 on Billboard's Japan Hot 100 and 'Man Human' (2018) went to number 80. Their latest album, 'Tropical Love', came out in March 2017. Taki also has had a long career as an actor in films such as 'Red Shadow' (2001) and 'The Blood of Wolves' (2018), Japanese television shows and video games including 'Siren 2'. In 2019, he was arrested on charges related to cocaine use and the band's recordings were withdrawn worldwide by Sony. He was excised from the video games 'Judgement' and 'Kingdom Hearts III' and replaced on the soundtrack of the Japanese release of the film 'Frozen' (2013).
