Flip Kowlier

Flip Kowlier is the stage name of Belgian singer-songwriter Filip Willy Mariette Cauwelier, born on March 15, 1976. Hailing from Izegem in West Flanders, he made his debut in the late 90s with the hip-hop collective 't Hof van Commerce under the pseudonym Levrancier, releasing the albums En in Izzegem (1998) and Herman (1999), which featured lyrics exclusively in West Flemish dialect. In 2000, he embarked on a solo career that began with 2001’s Ocharme ik, followed by In de fik (2004), De Man van 31 (2007), Otoradio (2010), and Cirque (2013). During this time, he also continued to collaborate with 't Hof van Commerce, appearing on the albums Rocky 7 (2002), Ezoa en niet anders (2005), and Stuntman (2012), also performing at several festivals in Belgium and the Netherlands. In 2018, 't Hof (as they are popularly known) went on hiatus and Flip Kowlier resumed his solo work with the single “September” (2021), which reached Number 33 on the Flemish Ultratop 50. During his live performances, he is accompanied by Karel De Backer and Joost Van den Broeck on drums, Peter Lesage on keyboards, and Pieter Van Buyten on bass guitar.
