Galileo Galilei

Galileo Galilei is a Japanese indie rock band that has been making waves in the music scene since its formation in 2007. The band was founded by singer and guitarist Yūki Ozaki, guitarist Sōhei Funaya, bassist Hitoshi Sakō, and drummer Kazuki Ozaki. In 2009, they were joined by guitarist and backing vocalist Fumito Iwai, and in 2011, keyboard player Kazumasa Noguchi, completing the band's lineup. Galileo Galilei's self-released debut album, 1tas2, garnered critical acclaim and quickly established the band as one of Japan's most promising indie acts. Their second album, Parade, released in 2011, further solidified their popularity, reaching number 5 on the Japanese music charts. The band's third album, Portal, was released in 2012, reaching number 10. Despite Iwai and Noguchi leaving the band soon after, Galileo Galilei continued to release critically acclaimed music, including "Climber", the ending theme to 2015 anime series Haikyū!!, followed by fourth album, Sea and The Darkness the following year with the band announcing their breakup during their 2016 tour. In 2022, the band delighted fans with news of their reformation at Japanese musician warbear's re:bear live concert, announcing that new album, Bee and The Whales would be released in 2023, followed by a subsequent tour.
