Glenn Morrison

Born on September 12th, 1985, Torontonian DJ and record producer Glenn Morrison started his musical journey as a classical pianist in his youth before becoming enamoured by house and techno. Setting up his own label, Morrison Recordings, and learning to produce in his early twenties under the tutelage of close friend deadmau5, the Canadian musician soon increased his proximity to the scene. By 2007, his progressive house track “Contact” – originally released via mau5trap and accompanied by the B-side “Hydrology” – was featured in a compilation by superstar DJ Tiësto, rising up the Global Dance Chart. Continuing to prolifically release singles, he put out two self-released EPs in 2009, Odyssey and Drone, before striking gold with the 2013 single “Goodbye”. Featuring guest vocals from Islove, the song went double platinum in his home country and also topped charts in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. It led to nominations at the Sirius XM, Juno and SOCAN Awards, and marked the start of an expansive deal with Sony which has gone on to encompass the five labels he runs today: Extinct Records, co-founded by Brian Cid; Fall From Grace, which he claims is focused on “classical arrangements built within a club sensibility”; Dying Light Records; Wolfe Records; and Ambient Wave, an outlet for more minimal, meditative productions. Morrison’s debut album, Into the Deep, arrived in 2016, and he has since released a string of EPs exploring different subgenres of electronic music including downtempo and electronic jazz.
