Incognito

London-based jazz funk band Icognito have been on the scene since 1979 having originally been formed as an offshoot from the critically acclaimed Light of the World. The band is the brainchild of guitarist Jean-Paul 'Bluey' Maunick who over the years has formed the focal point for bringing together an astonishing assembly of high calibre musicians who have played with the band. These include Style Council's Paul Weller, Porcupine Tree's drummer Gavin Harrison, actor and musician Max Beesley and US R&B singer Jocelyn Brown. It was with Brown that the band enjoyed what is probably their best known single when their cover version of Ronnie Laws 'Always There' made it to number six in the UK charts. It was the high point of the band's career which has since seen them make further sporadic forays into the UK charts.
