Inner City

Widely regarded as one of the most celebrated and groundbreaking dance-pop acts of all time, Inner City is often credited with bringing the futurist ideas of Detroit techno to mainstream audiences all over the globe. It was founded in 1987 by DJ and record producer Kevin Saunderson and house music vocalist Paris Grey. The pair, who had met via producer Terry Baldwin, quickly entered the studio and released their debut single "Big Fun" (1988), which landed in the UK Top 10 and hit number 1 on the US dance charts. The track's popularity earned the duo a record deal with Virgin, who released their follow-up single "Good Life" later that year. Their second single proved extremely successful, peaking at number 4 in the UK and receiving silver certification by the BPI. Both hits were included in Inner City's debut album, Paradise (titled Big Fun on its US release), a vibrant mix of electronica, house music, and techno that spread like a virus all over the European dancefloors. Besides reaching number 3 in the United Kingdom, Paradise also charted in Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. The following years found the duo veering towards downtempo (1990's Fire) and rave sounds (1992's Praise), showcasing their versatility as artists and performers. After the release of the remix collection Testament 93 (1993), Inner City stayed active through a string of non-album singles, including "Do Ya" (1994), "Your Love" (1996), "Good Life (Buena Vida)" (1999), and "Good Love" (2001), all of which charted in Europe. In 2017, Kevin Saunderson recruited his youngest son Dantiez for the project, unveiling the album We All Move Together in 2020.
