J Alvarez is a singer from Puerto Rico who started out as a rapper and gained fame as a performer of reggaeton with several recordings on Billboard's Latin Charts and the Tropical Songs Chart. Born in Rio Pedgras, he began making rap mixtapes and released an album titled 'El Dueño del Sistema' in 2009. 'Otro Nivel de Música' went to number 36 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums Chart in 2012 followed by 'De Camino Pa' La Cima' which peaked at number two on the Latin Chart and number 13 on the Top Rap Albums Chart. 'De Camino Pa' La Cima: Reloaded' reached number three in 2015 and 'Desde Puerto Rico: Live' went to number 31. He has had eleven singles on the Tropical Songs Chart with six in the top ten including three number ones, 'La Pelicula' (2015), 'Disfruta La Vida' (2015) and 'Quiero Experimentar' (2016). His 2018 release 'La Fama Que Camina' peaked at number 26 on the Latin Albums Chart.
