Jack Johnson

Hailing from Oahu, Hawaii, Jack Johnson has achieved commercial success across the world with his unique mixture of acoustic folk, insightful lyrics and surfing demeanour. Following a brief, semi-professional surfing career (cut short by injury), Johnson began concentrating on music and cinematography and it was a combination of these that earned him a cult following in the surfing scene. He caught the attention of music producer J.P. Plunier following the soundtrack that accompanied a surfing documentary Johnson had directed, and his debut album, 'Brushfire Fairytales', went platinum, extending his popularity much further than merely the surfing community. Following extensive touring, in 2003 Jack Johnson released his second album 'On and On', which also went platinum and his album 'In Between Dreams' in 2005 peaked at number two in the US Album Charts. In 2006, Johnson recorded the children's soundtrack album 'Sing-a-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George', and it went straight to number one in the US. In 2008 he released his fourth album 'Sleep Through the Static' and toured Europe extensively to sell-out crowds; the tour was released on DVD in 2009. His fifth album 'To the Sea' released in 2010 and he followed this up with further touring around the world. 'From Here to Now to You' was released in 2013 and, after more touring and popping up for small acoustic gigs, Johnson announced his seventh album 'All the Light Above It Too' for 2017.
