Jessica Simpson

Actress, TV star and pop star, Jessica Simpson's love affair with teen audiences has helped her sell over 20 million records. The daughter of a minister, she first sang at her local Baptist church and was still at school when asked to make a gospel album, though the label who recorded it folded before it was released. Undeterred, Simpson started giving live concerts and, after leaving school at 16, was signed by Columbia Records. Her first single I Wanna Love You Forever reached Number 3 in the US charts and, making the Top 10 in 10 different countries, launched her glittering pop career. Debut album Sweet Kisses was further boosted by follow-up hits Where You Are and I Think I'm In Love With You; and Simpson's popularity continued to soar with her 2001 album Irresistible, the title track of which went into Top 10s all over the world. Her fame continued to grow as a result of MTV show Newleds: Nick and Jessica, which documented the early days of her marriage to singer/actor Nick Lachey and she was portrayed as the archetype dumb blonde (they divorced in 2005). She also starred in the movies Daisy Duke, Employee Of The Month and Blonde Ambition while her music career turned towards country music on her 2007 album Do You Know. In 2010 Simpson presented a new VH1 reality TV show The Price Of Beauty.
