Kaija Koo

Finnish pop star Kaija Koo was born Kaija Kokkola in Helsinki on September 10, 1962. who goes by the name Kaija Koo. She first found success in the band Steel City, but left them with a solo album, Kun savukkeet on loppuneet, in 1986. She established her celebrity status with her Number 1 1993 album Tuuleten viemää. Her third release, Tuulikello, reached Number 7 on the and Unhiekkamyrsky (1995) and Operaatio jalokivimeri (1998) both topped the chart. Tinakenkätyttö (1999) reached Number 5, Mikään ei riitä (2002) Number 2, Viiden minuutin hilijaisus (2004) Number 3, making a string of seven consecutive top 10 albums. H-Hetki (2007) Irti (2014), Kuka sen opettaa (2014), and Sinun naisesi (2016) also all placed in the top 10. Not just a dominant album artist, Kaija Koo scored numerous top 20 singles including the 2010 Number 1 smash “Vapaa”, 2011’s “Kaunis rietas onnellinen”, and 2016’s “Nää yöt ei anna armoo”. Her 2021 album Taipumaton became her fifth LP to top the Finnish charts, and the albums single, "Sateenkaari pimeessä", became her twelfth top 20 hit.
