Kiesza

Kiesa Rae Ellestad, who performs house, electronic and dance music as Kiesza, is a Canadian singer and instrumentalist whose single and EP 'Hideaway' won international fame. Born in Calgary, she studied theatre and dance as a child, served in the Royal Canadian Navy and won a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2014, she released an EP titled 'Hideaway' which went to number five on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart. The title track topped the Official UK Singles Chart in 2014, went to number five on the Hot Canadian Digital Song Sales and Dance Club Songs charts, peaked at number seven on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and placed at number 17 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40. 'Giant in My Heart' (2014) reached number four in the UK and number 14 on the Dance/Electronic Chart in America with the album 'Sound of a Woman' topping the chart. After 'Hideaway' propelled her to fame she released her debut album 'Sound of a Woman' which went to number one on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart. The single 'Dearly Beloved', to honour her late friend Alicia Lemke from Alice and the Glass Lake who died of leukaemia in 2015, came out in 2017 and Kiesza said she was working on a second album.
