Lauren Jauregui

Born in Miami, Florida on June 27th, 1996 to two Cuban parents, singer-songwriter Lauren Jauregui discovered her love for singing, dancing and piano-playing from an early age, ultimately deciding to audition for world-renowned TV talent show The X Factor in 2012, when she was just fifteen. Impressed with her voice but not content with her direction as a soloist, the judges hand-selected her to serve as a founding member of a new girl group, Fifth Harmony, who proved an instant success, placing third in the show and enjoying a meteoric rise to fame in the ensuing years. After reaping the rewards of six years of global superstardom, the five-piece called a hiatus, and Jauregui channeled her energy into her solo career, an ambition which she had previously flirted with on collaborations with alt-pop sensation Halsey, R&B heavyweight Ty Dolla $ign, EDM mainstay Steve Aoki and songwriting duo Marian Hill. Remaining on the Syco/Columbia roster, she made her full-fledged solo debut in October 2018 with the US #48 hit “Expectations”, a slice of searing, no-holds-barred R&B-pop underscored by snappy guitar chords. Flexing her husky vocal acrobatics, the song signalled a new direction for the young singer, who had found an unlikely collaborator in English alternative hitmaker Kid Harpoon. Sharing just one new single the following year in the form of the hip-hop-leaning, Murda Beatz-produced “More Than That”, Jauregui resurfaced with a spree of non-charting singles in 2020 including the stirring Birds of Prey soundtrack contribution “Invisible Chains”, the breezy “50ft.”, and a pair of Spanish-language offerings alongside reggaeton specialist Tainy: “NADA” and “Lento”.
