Len

Formed in 1991, Len is a Canadian alternative rock and pop duo comprised of siblings Marc Costanzo (guitar, vocals) and Sharon Costanzo (bass, vocals). Len is best known for the hit single “Steal My Sunshine”. Initially an indie rock outfit when they first formed in Toronto, their first release was the 1994 single “Slacker”, followed by the debut album Superstar in 1995. The next few singles and sophomore album, Get Your Legs Broke, continued in the same indie rock vein as the band’s debut. However, their third album, You Can’t Stop The Bum Rush (1999), introduced a hip-hop element and a commercial gloss to their sound. The single “Steal My Sunshine” – which sampled the piano break in the Andrea True Connection’s 1976 hit “More, More, More” – became a huge hit, landing in the Top 10 in Canada, the UK, and the U.S. Two more singles were lifted from the album but only one – “Cryptik Souls Crew” – made an impact in the charts, landing in the Top 30 in the UK. In 2000, Len was nominated for two Juno Awards – Best New Group and Best Alternative Album. The duo has released two albums since that commercial breakthrough: The Diary of the Madmen (2005) and It’s Easy If You Try (2012).
