Leon Bridges

Soul singer Leon Bridges - born Todd Michael Bridges on July 13, 1989, in Atlanta, Georgia - made a name for himself performing in a style which went out of vogue over a decade before he was born. His music was a throwback to the 1960s sounds of soul artists such as Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, an influence he reinforced by dressing in period style vintage clothing in his videos and stage performances. His songwriting echoes the glory years of Stax Records. Leon Bridges’ 2015 album Coming Home produced the Number 1 Adult Alternative Airplay single “Smooth Sailin’” and reached Number 6 in the US charts and Number 8 in the UK and resulted in a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. He opened for Harry Styles on a 2018 tour of South America, That same year Good Thing hit Number 3 on the album chart and gave him another Adult Alternative Airplay Number 1 with “Bad News”. In early 2020, Leon Bridges released the Texas Sun EP which found him collaborating with alternative / psyche rock band Khruangbin. Later that year, he released the protest song “Sweeter” in the wake of George Floyd’s death. That song was featured on his third album, Gold-Diggers Sound, which was released in 2021. Continuing his collaboration with Khruangbin, in February 2022, Leon Bridges issued the Texas Moon EP, which featured the single “B-Side.”
