Lynch

Lynch formed in 2004 in Nagoya, Japan. Mixing the androgynous aesthetics of visual kei with the aggressive influences of metalcore and alternative metal, the group made its studio debut with Greedy Dead Souls in the summer of 2005. Lynch's three co-founders — vocalist Hazuki, lead guitarist Rea, and drummer Asanao — began expanding their roster in 2006, when rhythm guitarist Yusuke joined the band. Although a revolving door of bass players (including Yukino, Hikaru, and Junji) joined the band during live performances, Hazuki recorded the band's bass parts on subsequent albums like The Avoided Sun (2007), The Buried (2007), and Shadows (2009). Akinori joined the lineup as Lynch's permanent bassist in 2010, and the completed band continued to release new music throughout the 2010s, alternating between studio albums like 2015's D.A.R.K.: In the Name of Evil and EPs like 2018's Sinners: No One Can Fake My Blood. During the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020, the band released a new album, Ultima, as well as a charity single, "Overcome the Virus." They donated all proceeds from the single's sales to more than 100 venues across Japan. After taking a brief hiatus in 2022, the group reunited in 2023 for Reborn, which debuted at Number 14 on the Billboard Japan Albums chart.
