Nu Flavor

Best known for their popular R&B ballad "Heaven," the vocal group Nu Flavor released two albums during the late 1990s. The band formed in 1994 in Long Beach, California, where singers Jacob Ceniceros, Anthony DaCosta, Frank Pangelinan Jr., and Rico Luna began singing together at local parties. Their sound — a blend of four-part harmonies, soulful R&B hooks, and Latin-pop influences — earned them a hometown following in Los Angeles, which they expanded into a national audience with the release of their self-titled debut, Nu Flavor, in 1997. The album's first single, "Heaven," became a crossover hit that same year, enjoying time on both the pop and R&B charts. Nu Flavor's second album, It's On!, was released in 1999. Despite the group's appearance on the popular TV show Beverly Hills, 90210 in 2000, It's On! failed to match the success of the band's debut, with the single "Baby Be There" stalling at Number 83 on the Billboard charts. Although Nu Flavor did not release another album, band member Rico Luna reemerged in 2006 as a solo artist.
