Petra Magoni

Petra Magoni, born July 28, 1972 in Pisa, Italy, used her classical training to become a respected figure in the Italian pop scene. After spending years in formal study at various respected institutions, she dipped her tow into the world of popular music by performing with the band Senza Freni in the mid 90s. She released a self-titled debut album in 1996, but kept collaborating on various projects with respected jazz musicians, and contributed to various theatrical productions. She formed Musica Nuda with bassist Ferruccio Spinetti in 2003, a successful collaboration that focused on playing famous rock and pop songs from English and Italian and American artists using just his instrument and her voice. The duo’s first record became so popular that a follow-up came three years later, and proved to be just as successful. She explored a more danceable, poppy sound with Aromatic, who put out their debut LP between the first two Musica Nuda albums, but continued with Spinetti, releasing Complici in 2017.
