Powerwolf

Guitarist Benjamin Buss (AKA "Matthew Greywolf") and bassist David Vogt (AKA "Charles Greywolf") formed the German metal band Powerwolf in 2003. Based in Saarbrücken, Germany, the bandmates drew upon a mutual interest in werewolves, vampires, and other dark topics to create a Gothic-influenced sound that distinguished their group from conventional metal acts. They unveiled that sound with the 2005 debut album Return in Bloodred, which was followed by Lupus Dei in 2007. Powerwolf's third album, Bible of the Beast, reached Number 76 on the German charts in 2009, and the band became a full-fledged mainstream act four years later, when Preachers of the Night reached Number 1 in Germany. 2015's Blessed and Possessed hit Number 3 in the band's homeland and went gold in the Czech Republic, and 2018's The Sacrament of Sin returned the group to the top of the German Albums Chart. Three years later, Call of the Wild charted at Number 2 in Germany while also cracking the Top 20 in Finland, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium. A live album and accompanying DVD, The Monumental Mass, arrived in 2022, documenting the band's visually-striking stage show and returning Powerwolf to Number 1 in Germany. Capitalizing on that momentum, the band returned one year later with its ninth studio album, 2023's Interludium.
