PUSHIM

Born Paku Pushin (朴 冨心) in Osaka, Japan on 26 November 1975, Pushim is a Zainichi Korean reggae artist who cut her teeth in Japan's Kansai reggae scene during the mid-1990s. Kansai is a culturally rich region of Japan known for nurturing Jamaican-influenced sounds, with various artists leading the way. Pushim recorded her debut 2000 album Say Greetings! in Jamaica for Sony Music Japan and went to number four in Japan that year. The follow-up, Colors, arrived in 2001 and reached number 13. Pushim's 2004 album Queendom saw her re-enter the Japanese Top 10 while her 2006 album Sing A Song… Lighter! featured Jamaican roots reggae legend Luciano on the track "As One." In 2008, she collected some of her best moments to date on Platinum Pushim and in 2010 received the nod for Best Reggae Video at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) Japan. Another career round-up, 15th - The Best of Pushim, followed in 2014. A J-pop album titled F was issued in 2016 while in 2019 she added to her discography with The Nostalgics and with Immature in 2019. 2023 saw the release of a reggae-centric new Pushim album, Dialogue.
