Relient K

Relient K inhabit an unusual musical genre loosely known as Christian punk. It's a catch-all term for a spiritually aware band who combine punchy, punk-influenced pop songs with a Christian message delivered in a subtle, sometimes humourous way. After forming in 1998 the band released their debut, self-titled album in 2000 and joined a select cadre of hard-hitting Christian bands such as Ghoti Hook, MxPx and Slick Shoes. Their follow up album The Anatomy Of The Tongue In Cheek released in 2001 was supported by a 200-date tour across the US and by the end of the year the album had sold over 300,000 copies. Despite the turbulence of an ever changing line up of personnel the band continue on an upward trajectory and after the 2003 album Two Lefts Don't Make A Right debuted at number 38 in the Billboard Hot 100 the band released MMHMM which went straight in at at number 15 in the Billboard Chart and number one in the Christian Chart selling over 51,000 copies in the first week. With eleven studio albums to their credit the band continue to be one of the most consistently successful Christian acts in the US.
