Sheppard

Sheppard is an ARIA-winning indie pop band from Brisbane, Australia, best known outside of the group's homeland for the 2014 international hit single "Geronimo." Initially a brother-and-sister duo featuring George and Amy Sheppard, the band formed in 2009 in Brisbane, Queensland, where the siblings had relocated following their childhood in Papua New Guinea. By 2012, the lineup had expanded to include the Sheppards' younger sister, Emma, on bass, as well as Jared Tredly on drums, Jason Bovino on rhythm guitar, and Michael Butler on lead guitar. The band's self-titled debut EP was independently released that August and began climbing the ARIA charts the following summer, eventually peaking at Number 18 in Australia. The full-length album Bombs Away followed in July 2014, showcasing Sheppard's polished combination of vocal harmonies and buoyant melodies. The record's lead single, "Geronimo," became the year's best-selling song in Australia, where it topped the singles chart for three weeks and went five-times platinum. "Geronimo" also became a Top 40 hit in seven other countries, earning double-platinum status in Italy and the Netherlands, as well as platinum certifications in America and New Zealand. Meanwhile, Bombs Away peaked at Number 2 in Australia. The Undercover EP followed in December 2017, featuring cover songs by artists like Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran. Sheppard's second album, Watching the Sky, was released the following summer and topped the Australian charts, led by the gold-selling single "Keep Me Crazy" and the platinum-selling hit "Coming Home," the latter of which peaked at Number 22 on the ARIA singles chart. The band released a number of singles throughout late 2019 and 2020, with songs like "Die Young" and "Learning to Fly" becoming Top 40 hits in Belgium. Those tracks were then compiled together on the band's third album, Kaleidoscope Eyes, which was released in February 2021.
