Slakah the Beatchild

Producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Slakah the Beatchild was born Byram Joseph in Toronto, Canada. Now known as Beatchild, he is best known for his production work in the soul, R&B, hip-hop and neo-soul genres. Blending experimental and underground hip-hop with a love of classic soul, he first came to prominence in 2007 when he produced recordings by Canadian hip-hop artists such as Arabesque, G. Stokes, and Aya. As Slakah the Beatchild, he released his debut album, Soul Movement Volume 1, in 2008. Three years later, he released the album Something Forever (2011) before forming psychedelic soul band the Slakadeliqs and releasing the album The Other Side of Tomorrow. Due to popular demand, Slakah the Beatchild released Soul Movement Volume 2 in 2014. Two years later, he shortened his stage name to Beatchild and later issued the album Heavy Rockin’ Steady (2018) under the band name Beatchild & the Slakadeliqs. Over the course of his career, he remained busy as a producer, twiddling the knobs for artists such as Drake, Justin Nozuka, Glenn Lewis, Sinead Harnett, Amaal Nuux, Divine Brown, and many others.
