Snap!

Using a plethora of unlicensed samples from hip hop, soul and house music, German producers Michael Munzing and Luca Anzilotti suddenly found that they had a huge club anthem on their hands in 1990. Legal action forced them to recruit Pittsburgh rapper Turbo B and R&B singer Penny Ford to re-record the track The Power, and suddenly Snap! were born. With the bellowed refrain "I've got the power", it became the first rap single to top the UK chart and reached Number 2 in the US. Debut album World Power (1990) sold over 7 million copies and produced two more hits in Oops Up and Mary Had A Little Boy, before second album The Madman's Return (1992) produced the classic UK Number 1 single Rhythm Is A Dancer. As the line-up changed and success dwindled the group officially split in 1996, but Munzing and Anzilotti returned in 2002 with remixes of their old hits and they continue to work on new material with current vocalist Loc.
