Tauren Wells

Tauren Gabriel Wells is a Contemporary Christian music artist who is mostly known as the frontman for the Christian pop-rock group Royal Tailor. Born on April 7, 1986, in Battle Creek, Michigan, he founded Royal Tailor with DJ Cox and Blake Hubbard while attending Indiana Bible College in 2004. Over the course of five years, Tauren Wells released two albums with the group and received two Grammy nominations as well as a New Artist of the Year award from the Gospel Music Association. In 2016, he signed to Reunion Records and made his solo debut with the single “Undefeated,” steering away from the pop-inflected sound of his former band and delving deep into electronic music. An EP of the same name saw the light later that year, as the follow-up single “Love Is Action” became a hit on Christian radio. Preceded by the title track, his studio debut Hills and Valleys arrived in 2017 and peaked at number 5 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart. The album earned Tauren Wells two Grammy nominations for Best Contemporary Christian Performance/Song and Contemporary Christian Album of the Year and spawned the Top 10 singles “When We Pray” and “Known.” The latter soared to the top of the Christian Airplay and Christian AC Songs chart and received a nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song in 2019. A year later, Tauren Wells returned with his second full-length Citizen of Heaven, reaching number 3 on the Christian charts thanks to the singles “Famous For (I Believe)” with Jenn Johnson, “Millionaire (Good Like That)” with Kirk Franklin, and “Until Grace” with country band Rascal Flatts. He would repeat the feat once again with 2022's Joy in the Morning, also hitting number 3 on the US Top Christian Albums chart. Apart from promotional singles "Fake It" with Aaron Cole and "Joy in the Morning," the LP also included the track "Crazy About You," which entered the Radio Christian Songs chart at number 39.
