The Sax Pack

The Sax Pack is a smooth jazz trio composed of saxophonists Jeff Kashiwa, Kim Waters, and Steve Cole. Inspired by Frank Sinatra’s Rat Pack concept, the group initially came together as a touring act and eventually decided to release their own material. Boasting a wide array of influences, ranging from jazz to funk and R&B, the trio of seasoned veterans toured extensively throughout the US before releasing their eponymous debut in 2008 via Shanachie Records. Featuring mostly cover versions, the album spawned the hit “Fallin’ for You,” which briefly topped Billboard’s Smooth Jazz Songs chart. After a brief tour throughout London, the supergroup followed up with The Pack Is Back (2009), a collection of original material that was hailed by jazz critics as a big step up from their previous album. That same year, the single “Can’t Help Myself” peaked at Number 18 on Billboard’s Smooth Jazz Songs chart. The trio took a six-year hiatus to focus on their individual careers, after which they released The Power of 3 (2015). In line with their previous singles, “Sooner or Later” reached Number 6 on Billboard’s Smooth Jazz Songs chart, consolidating the group’s status as one of the most exciting smooth jazz acts in their home country.
