Yiruma

Born Lee Ru-ma in Seoul, South Korea on February 15, 1978, the new age and classical pianist and composer is better known by his stage name Yiruma. He has won acclaim for both his recordings and international live appearances. Born in Seoul, he studied in England from the age of 11 and went on to release crossover albums starting with his 2001 record First Love which featured his composition “River Flows in You”. The song was successful in several countries thanks to a viral social media video that featured images from the hit film Twilight (the song was not featured on the movie’s soundtrack). He has collaborated with several major South Korean artists and released more albums including From the Yellow Room (2003), Piano Museum (2006), Stay in Memory (2013), Piano (2016), and two albums in 2021: The Rewritten Memories and Solo. Yiruma has also scored movie soundtracks including Oasis (2002) and Doggy Poo (2002).
