Customer Support Rep III - Provide customer support for Slacker, Inc products and services.  Support will be provided via phones, email and chat support.  In addition to providing support, the agent will also be responsible to troubleshoot problems, develop solutions to reported problems, help to create customer documentation, and share information with other agents in the group.

This position requires a high school education and at least 2 years of experience in a technical support role as well as excellent customer service and communication skills, the ability to troubleshoot technical problems and strong attention to detail.

Test Engineer - This position will develop and execute test plans and test cases for various Slacker products and will work closely with development and product management throughout the product development life cycle in improving the product quality.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Tracking and reporting results
  • Smoke test firmware builds
  • Qualifying firmware builds and hardware device(s) for demos, beta and manufacturing releases
  • Reporting defects and collaborating with development and product management in resolving defects effectively

The position requires BS/BA in a technical field and at least 3 years experience in functional testing of consumer electronics and handhelds. In addition, the selected candidate will be creative and detail oriented, with good problem solving skills and a good understanding of software development life cycle. Excellent written and verbal communication skills within and across functional teams and the ability to perform under pressure are essential.

Senior Visual Designer - Slacker is looking for a Photoshop Guru who is able to create world-class user interface designs to join the User Experience Design team.

Responsibilities:
Work closely with our User Experience Group to design and iterate prototypes, demos and designs for user studies and final products
The ideal candidate will be responsible for Slacker's high profile customer experience including web design, user interface design and marketing materials

Minimum Job Qualifications:
5+ years' experience as key member of a design team
Expert understanding of design software including Photoshop, and Flash
Must be able to prioritize and manage workload against project timelines in a fast paced environment and work well under pressure

Preferable Job Qualifications:
Familiarity with skin technology (Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc..)
Prior experience working on icon design and client software user interface design
Animation experience a plus

Principle Firmware Engineer - This position will contribute to the overall product life-cycle of our next generation portable media player, including software design, implementation, and verification. The selected candidate will have a BS/MS in CS/EE with a minimum of 5 years of experience in developing embedded real-time media players and hands-on experience in software development.

Required skills include:

  • Minimum 3-year experience with embedded audio/video real-time applications.
  • Experience in translating software design to implementation with little supervision.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ in an embedded RTOS preferably Linux.
  • Strong ability to comprehend hardware logic to develop appropriate software abstractions for device drivers, etc.
  • Diverse skills in multiple areas, i.e., network, media-related, hardware.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Any of the following are big pluses:

  • Audio or video coding standards, file formats, and audio compression standards (WMV, WMA, MP3, AAC, H.264, MPEG-2, MPEG-4) and/or any other multimedia standards
  • Good understanding of audio/video media playback integration with third-party solutions.
  • Experience with various device drivers, such as USB, 802.11, and Bluetooth.
  • Experience in designing low-powered hand-held devices.
  • Familiarity with ARM architecture.

E-Commerce Software Engineer - this position is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing software solutions involving accounting, billing, reporting, account management, customer support, etc. The position will also work with marketing on off-line and on-line promotions and sales, as well as implement industry standard security procedures and document processes. The position requires a BS in a related technical field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related position.

Required skills include:

  • Ability to accurately estimate work
  • Ability to develop robust, fail-safe software services
  • Interfacing with third-party APIs
  • Expert knowledge of Java, SQL, Oracle, and Linux
  • Working knowledge of Hibernate, JSP, and Struts
