No one can accuse Lady Gaga of not giving the people what they want. “Just Dance,” the artist’s first single, is an urgent dancefloor filler that draws on Madonna, glam, ‘80s electro-pop, and deep house, trendy elements that not only push ubiquitous pleasure buttons but carry all the right cultural cachet in the late 2000s. But the up-and-coming dance-pop diva has the skill and flair to pull it off, as anyone who hears (and buys) “Just Dance” will find. Sexy, catchy, and eminently danceable, this single release is hard to resist. More of the same can be heard on THE FAME, Lada Gaga’s full-length debut released in 2008.
