Review

Ocho's second album, Ocho II, finds the same groove as the first, somewhere between Edgar Pacheco and Tito Puente. This is serious music, played by devoted, dedicated men. But, like all the very best music, it will feed both hips and brain. This is the sound of '70s New York, the place where the line between Calle 52 and 52nd Street was hard to define. Records like this make you wonder why anyone cared, why anyone would want to draw lines at all. This is a beautiful and fragile fusion of jazz and Latin music. Charlie Palmieri guests on percussion. ~ Rob Ferrier
