Review

Sure, when you're making a serious movie about the end of the world you'll always want to reach for staples like "O Fortuna" that bring drama and dread in equal measures, but for a buddy-apocalypse comedy like This Is the End, a different approach is necessary. Built more like a mixtape for a dance party than the soundtrack to the end of the human race, the disc is primarily made up of club-bangin' hip-hop that would feel just as at home as the background music to a rowdy guy's night out. What makes the soundtrack work is that, like the film, it helps to set the mood for, it's more about goofy fun than edge-of-your-seat action, and really, if you've got to go out in an extinction-level event, you might as well do it in style. ~ Gregory Heaney
