In which Christian pop comes into its own, with a varied selection encompassing the urban stylings of Stacy Orrico with "Breathe on Me" and the Oasis-like pop of Tait, whose ":Give It All You Got" is a "Turn! Turn! Turn!" for the new millenium. The first CD of this two-disc set highlights the poppier aspect of contemporary Christian music, while the second is devoted to more traditional acoustic based fare such as the reliable Caedmon's Call with "We Delight" and Steven Curtis Chapman's "This Day." Still, Plus One's pleasant "God Is in This Place" is funky in its own acoustic way and 4Him's Psalm 112's vaguely electronic backing could point the way to a new direction for the genre. Compared to previous WOW volumes, this collection shows an increasing confidence among practitioners of the genre, and a wider variation in styles. WOW HITS 2002 augurs well for the next decade of Christian rock.
