Biography

Formed in 2011 by multi-instrumentalist, Life of Agony drummer, and Type O Negative co-founder Sal Abruscato in Brooklyn, New York, A Pale Horse Named Death blends the brooding goth metal of Danzig, Biohazard, and H.I.M. with the turgid, post-grunge hard rock of Alice in Chains. Abruscato, along with guitarist, sound engineer, and right-hand man Matt Brown (Seventh Void), and a crack team of players, released And Hell Will Follow Me, the first album under the moniker, in 2011. The band's sophomore long-player, the punishing Lay My Soul to Waste, was released in 2013 via SPV/Steamhammer. They moved to SPV imprint Long Branch for 2019's When the World Becomes Undone, which marked the studio debut of new guitarist Joe Taylor, who took over after Brown left the fold in 2017. ~ James Christopher Monger
