Afrojack

The Dutch DJ Afrojack was born as "Nick van de Wall" in Spijkenisse, Netherlands, on September 9, 1987. He began playing piano at the age of five, absorbing many different musical influences, and started making his own dance tracks at 11 years old. Years later, he worked as a barman while becoming involved in the Rotterdam club scene, and was soon running his own club nights and DJ sets. He spent several months DJing on the Crete club scene in 2006, enjoying his first hit with the track "F*ck Detroit." Back home in Holland he broke into the Dutch chart with the track "Afrojack - In Your Face," after which he adopted the Afrojack stage name. Van de Wall subsequently launched his own label Wall Recordings, burying himself in the studio as he produced a string of tracks, notably "Math," and enhancing his international reputation, charting with "Drop Down (Do My Dance)." Influential festival appearances followed, and he collaborated with David Guetta on the track "Toyfriend" before remixing Guetta's track "Sexy Bitch." In the early 2010s, Afrojack became one of the best-selling producer/DJs in the world, thanks to the international success of his Eva Simons collaboration, "Take Over Control," as well as his appearance on the multi-platinum Pitbull track "Give Me Everything." He also remixed songs for the likes of Lady Gaga and Madonna. His debut album, Forget the World, was released in 2014 and hit Number 2 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart. He continued enjoying sporadic hits on the Billboard charts, joining David Guetta on the Top 10 international hit "Hey Mama" in 2015 and teaming up with Guetta once again for the European smash "Hero" in 2021.
