Alex Clare

With his signature bushy beard, flat cap and acoustic guitar, English singer-songwriter Alex Clare delivers dubstep ballads, screaming electro synths and strutting R&B pop with a soulful voice. Making his way up through open mic nights, the Londoner first came to media attention in 2006 when he briefly dated Amy Winehouse, before years of strumming away in small pubs led to a deal with Island Records. Recruiting star electro DJs Diplo and Switch to produce debut album 'The Lateness of the Hour' (2011), his songs were transformed into dance floor hits, but the record initially failed to take off. He was dropped by the label and it wasn't until single 'Too Close' was used in a commercial that the interest started to grow. The single received more than 14 million views on YouTube, shot to number seven in the US chart and was nominated for a BRIT Award, while Clare went on to feature on Rudimental's single 'Not Giving In' with John Newman. He also appeared on 'Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds - The New Generation' (2012) album as the Voice of Humanity. He has since released studio albums 'Three Hearts' (2014) and 'Tail of Lions' (2016) as well as the acoustic album 'Three Days at Greenmount' (2018).
