Amelia Lily

As one of X Factor's youngest ever contestants, 16-year-old Amelia Lily stunned the judges and sent the crowd into frenzy when she gave a storming performance of Erma Franklin's Piece Of My Heart in 2011. Controversy struck, though, when the Middlesbrough teenager was eliminated by her mentor Kelly Rowland, only to be voted back into the show by a public vote after Frankie Cocozza was disqualified from the competition. She went on to reach the final and finish third behind winners Little Mix, but earned a £500,000 deal with Sony's Xenomania label, going on to record debut album Be A Fighter (2013). Influenced by Christina Aguilera, Pink and Kelly Clarkson, her booming, soulful voice was crafted into synth-pop, dance and party anthems by acclaimed producer Brian Higgins. Lead single You Bring Me Joy shot to Number 2 in the UK charts while follow-up Shut Up (And Give Me Whatever You Got) reached Number 11.
