Angus Stone

As well as performing and recording with Angus & Julia Stone – the world-famous folk duo he formed with his sister in 2006 – Angus Stone has carved out a name for himself as a folkie singer-songwriter in his own right. Born on April 27, 1986 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, he first broke away from the family name to focus on his own songcraft in 2009, with his debut solo album, Smoking Gun, arriving in April that year under the pseudonym Lady of the Sunshine. The LP broke the ARIA top 50 and paved the way for a second solo effort, Broken Brights, on which he channeled his childhood musical influences like Bob Dylan and the Eagles. The album was released under his name in July 2012 on Nettwerk Records in the US, EMI in Australia and UK, and Discograph in France, and peaked at Number 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart, also securing him two nominations: the ARIA Award for Best Male Artist and Best Blues and Roots Album. In 2016, Angus Stone turned his attention to a new moniker, Dope Lemon, and recorded his first album Honey Bones, and his third studio album in total. He took the record to Number 11 in Australia and released a follow-up EP as Dope Lemon, Hounds Tooth, in 2017. A second full-length Dope Lemon album arrived in 2019, Smooth Big Cat, which went all the way to Number 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart. In January 2022, he released his third album under the Dope Lemon pseudonym and his fifth studio album to date, Rose Pink Cadillac.
