Beabadoobee

Born in Iloílo City, Philippines on June 3, 2000, indie rock singer/songwriter Beatrice Ilejay Laus is better known by her stage name Beabadoobee. At the age of three, her family relocated to London. She grew up listening to Filipino music and British pop and rock from the 1980s. She spent seven years learning to play the violin, but by the time she was 17, she switched her focus to the guitar. In September of 2017, she recorded her own composition, “Coffee,” and a cover of Karen O’s “The Moon Song” and released them via social media. Over 300,000 views later, she caught the attention of Dirty Hit Records. Signing to the label in April 2018, she released her debut EP, Lice, followed by her second EP, Patched Up, in December. Both EPs received critical acclaim, earning her a spot on NME’s annual 100 list of essential new artists. Her third EP, Loveworm, was released in July 2019. She followed that up with the EP Loveworm (Bedroom Sessions), which featured acoustic versions of Loveworm’s tracks. After embarking on her first tour, she issued the Space Cadet EP in October 2019. Canadian rapper Powfu used a sample of her song “Coffee” on his hit single “Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head),” which became an international hit. She released her debut album, Fake It Flowers, in October 2020. The album featured the singles “Care”, Sorry”, and “Worth It,” and spent an entire week at Number 8 on the UK charts. Following a promotional tour in support of the album in 2021, she announced the release of a second full-length titled Beatopia in 2022. Preceded by the single "Talk," Beatopia climbed to Number 4 on the UK Albums Chart and featured appearances by PinkPantheress, the 1975, and Cavetown, among others.
