Blake Shelton

A country crooner with smooth charm and Southern persona, Blake Shelton became a mainstream star with a string of hit albums. Born June 18, 1976 in Ada, Oklahoma, Shelton began writing songs at the age of 15 and won a Denbo Diamond Award for being the state's top young entertainer before moving to Nashville. After years of selling songs to local publishing houses, his big break came in 2001 when he was signed to Giant Records for his debut single “Austin” which topped the US Country Charts. The label went bust as the track was taking off, but Shelton's blue-collar storytelling and yearning country ballads helped send albums The Dreamer (2003) and Pure BS (2007) into the US top ten10, while singles “The Baby”, “Some Beach”, “All About Tonight”, “God Gave Me You” and “Honey Bee” all became huge country anthems. His marriage to fellow country star Miranda Lambert further enhanced his profile and his sixth studio album Red River Blue (2011) gave him his first US number 1 record. Inducted into the Grand Ole Opry Hall of Fame by Trace Adkins, Shelton appeared on Christina Aguilera's album Lotus in 2012 on the track “Just a Fool”, and he joined the television talent show The Voice as a coach and judge. Based On a True Story, his eighth album, was released in 2013 and debuted at number 1 on the Country Chart. “Boys 'Round Here”, “Mine Would Be You” and “Doin' What She Likes” all topped the Country Airplay Chart, taking his consecutive number ones total up to eleven. Bringing Back the Sunshine was released as his ninth album in 2014 with, once again, all its singles – “Neon Light”, “Lonely Tonight”, “Sangria” and “Gonna” - topping the Country Airplay Chart. If I'm Honest followed in 2016. In 2017 he won his sixth victory as a coach on The Voice with Chloe Kohanski. Later in the year he released “I'll Name the Dogs”, the first single from his eleventh album Texoma Shore. In 2019 he released a compilation album titled Fully Loaded: God's Country. After a 4 year hiatus from releasing new material, Shelton put out Body Language in 2021.
