Caralisa Monteiro

Caralisa Monteiro (born in Mumbai, India) is an Indian singer. Educated in music from a very young age, she began to write her own songs during her college years; giving away her hobby to focus on supporting her family. Working in the advertising industry, composing and performing television jingles, Monteiro quickly gained a reputation as the “Jingle Queen”, before given the opportunity to work with well-known trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy on the soundtrack to cult film Dil Chahta Hai in 2001. Performing both as a singer and an arranger in both the Hindi and Bollywood film industries, Monteiro recorded songs such as “Mitwah” from Hindi film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and“Tumse hi Tumse” from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehn” as well as appearing on Tamil soundtracks, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal and Yaaro Iran Yaaro. In 2015, she launched her solo career, releasing her multi-genre debut EP Illusions and recording the ballad “All Alone” from Indie film Rize of the Zombie. In 2017, she collaborated with acclaimed Welsh composer Karl Jenkins performing “Hymn” on his Adiemus: Songs of a Sanctuary tour, returning in 2021 with singles “Writings on the Wall” and “Yeh toh Hona Hi Tha”. In 2022, she recorded the Spanish language lyrics in “Besharam Rang” from the hit film Pathaan, attracting over 50 million views.
