Diego Torres

The son of singer and actress Lolita Torres, Argentine pop singer Diego Torres was born Diego Antonio Caccia on March 9, 1971, in Buenos Aires. He started out as the lead vocalist of a band called La Marca and appeared on the television series La Banda del Golden Rocket. In 1992, he made his official solo debut with an eponymous album released through RCA Records. The title track of his second release, "Tratar de Estar Mejor" went to number 14 on Billboard's Latin Pop Songs Chart in 1995 and his 1996 track "Penelope" reached number 5. "No Lo Soñé" from his 1996 album Luna Nueva peaked at number 6 and "Sé Que Ya No Volverás" topped the chart in 1997. His fifth studio album, Un Mundo Diferente, was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Latin Pop Album in 2002. MTV Unplugged (2004) also earned a Grammy Award nomination as Best Latin Pop Album and was nominated as Album of the Year at the Latin Grammy Awards. It went to number 13 on Billboard's Latin Pop Albums Chart, the track "Cantar Hasta Morir" hit number 8 on the Latin Pop Songs Chart, and "Déjame Estar" went to number 9 on the Latin Pop Songs Chart. "Abriendo Caminos" from his 2006 release Andando cracked the Top 10 of the Latin Pop Songs Chart and Distinto (2010) landed in the Top 5 on the Top Latin Albums Chart. Buena Vida (2015), his eighth studio offering, peaked at number 13, earned him his third Grammy Award nomination as Best Latin Pop Album, and was nominated for Latin Grammy Awards as Album of the Year and Traditional Pop Vocal Album. The track "Guapa" topped Billboard's Hot Latin Songs, Latin Pop Songs, and Latin Airplay charts and reached number 5 on the Tropical Songs Chart. "Iguales" was nominated for Record of the Year in the Latin Grammy Awards and "Hoy Es Domingo" was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award as Song of the Year. His single "Un Poquito" went to number 37 on the Latin Pop Songs Chart in 2018. Despite not putting out much material over the following years, Diego Torres remained a staple of Latin pop music, releasing albums like Atlántico a Pie (2021) and Mejor Que Ayer (2024), which featured the single "Kapun" with Carlos Vives.
