Don Chezina

Widely regarded as one of the pioneers of reggaeton, Ricardo García Ortiz (January 12, 1976) is a rapper and producer who performs under the stage name Don Chezina. Born in Georgia but raised in Puerto Rico, he made his debut as a singer in 1997 with the album Bien Guillao de Gangster. That same year, Don Chezina was featured alongside US rappers Busta Rhymes, Nas, Fat Joe, and Big Pun on the hip-hop and reggaeton compilation Boricua Guerrero: First Combat. In 1998, he achieved his big international break with "Tra Tra Tra," one of the first reggaeton songs to break into the American market. The song was included in the greatest hits compilation Mi Trayectoria (1999), which also contained the hit single "Vacilón." Despite not achieving the same level of recognition as some of his peers, Don Chezina continued to tour incessantly throughout Latin America and Europe, and remained at the forefront of the Latin urban music scene with titles like It's My Time (2013), Chezination (2014), and Born Ready (2019).
