Elliot Minor

The beginnings of the band Elliot Minor lay in a fateful meeting at school between Alex Davies and Ed Minton when both were 13. At the time Davies had been studying to be a concert violinist, but Minton introduced him to rock bands like Green Day and Blink-182 and they started playing together as an acoustic duo. When Davies' old friend Dan Hetherton joined as drummer, bringing along his brother Ed to play bass with Ali Paul also joining to play keyboards, they became The Academy before transforming themselves into Elliot Minor; incorporating influences from their classical music training. Their first single, Parallel Worlds, broke into the UK charts and subsequent singles Jessica, The White One Is Evil, Still Figuring It Out and Time After Time all made the Top 30 while their self-titled debut album got to Number 6 in the UK in 2008. Second album Solaris followed in 2009, producing another hit Electric High, and Elliot Minor cemented their appeal as a live act - which occasionally includes a rock arrangement of Bach's Toccata and Fugue In D Minor. Keyboardist Ali Paul left the band in August, 2010.
